What is Glacial Geology?
Glacial Geology is the study of glaciers and their effects. During the Quaternary that glaciers again became a major element on the Earth’s surface as they spread out into the mid-latitudes. The Quarternary is important because: • we living it. Glaciation is fundamental boundary conditions of our lives. • it is a time of rapid cliamte change. • most surface deposits formed at this time. • most water in a glaciated terrain comes directly from glacial deposits or pass through glacial deposits in their hydrological cycle. • sorted deposits form the primary aggregate resources used in construction. • loess deposits allow effective farming.
