What is GLA and how does it maintain healthy skin?
Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) is an essential fatty acid that’s needed to create and maintain healthy skin cell membranes. Without adequate levels of GLA, the cell walls lose integrity and are less able to retain moisture. People don’t ingest GLA in their daily diet; instead, an enzyme called delta-6-desaturate produces it from Linoleic Acid (LA), which is commonly found in many dietary oils. DiabetiCare is effective because it delivers GLA where it’s needed: directly to the skin cells.
