What is GC testing, and why do you use only GC tested essential oils?
Gas Chromatography or GC testing is a process by which chemists test the chemical make up of an oil in an effort to guarantee purity. The equipment used is exceptionally sensitive and can detect where, when, and by what distillation process the oil was created. This testing is imperative because purity of an oil is of the utmost importance when using it for potentially therapeutic purposes. It is common practice in the essential oil industry to cut pure oils with fillers in an effort to increase profit margins. When you consider that it takes approximately 100 pounds of French lavender to create 16 ounces of our lavender oil, it becomes clear that some of the products you have seen on the market for lower prices are most likely not using pure oils.
