What is gauss rating and why are there so many different ones?
The manufacturer’s gauss rating is the amount of magnetic energy at the magnet’s core. Because magnets are made from different types of material, each magnet has a different gauss rating. Think of gold and the different carat ratings (10k, 14k, 18k, 24k). It’s the same with magnets – they have different quality grades. The higher grades are more powerful and have a higher gauss rating.
