What is ga law regarding mentally retarded juviniles in Y-D-C?
Juveniles having a mental disability regardless of state/location can be placed in YDC. The state might try to sentance to a psychiatric residential treatment center instead of a YDC term, but YDC is a possibility. The staff at YDC is, in most cases, medically trained or will have a medic on staff in one way or another since the epidemic of ADHD has reached an all time high and the youth in YDC will need Ritallin as prescribed. I work in a residential treatment center and I’ve seen my kids/had my kids arrested out to YDC even though they have mental disorders. I live in IL but I can’t imagine that GA would be any different in regards to the simple fact that criminals should be punished.
