What is G-max and what makes Brock Performance Base a better option?
G-max is the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) measure used to determine the likelihood of a head injury. Brock under infilled turf G-max’s in the low 90’s while fields built on a traditional stone base range in the mid-100’s. As stone-based fields age over the years, the field compacts and the G-max rises. At a G-max rating of 200, serious head injury may occur (i.e. concussions). Because Brock is a resilient material, impact energy is transferred through the infill into Brock, which helps prevent compaction over time. In addition, Brock provides a safety factor in the event that the infill is displaced. Most importantly, Brock accomplishes this without producing a playing surface that is noticeably softer to the athlete during normal playing conditions. Brock provides both Safety and Performance.
