What is fuel mileage?
First you must measure fuel mileage or you have nothing to compare. We have all seen advertisements on for vehicles boasting of high MPG (miles per gallon). This means for each gallon of gas you put in the tank your car will go X amount of miles. Tracking this is very easy. Keep a note pad in your car and reset the trip meter each time you fill up your tank. Write down the miles traveled and divide by the number of gallons you just put in. This is your MPG. Maximize your fuel mileage by. Maintaining proper tire pressure (the factory pressures are shown inside the drivers door jam) Be easy and smooth on the gas pedal. Plan to stop ahead of time. (the smoother you drive the less fuel you use) Maintain you fuel system, air filter and ignition system.
