The typical steps involved are process of observation, “hypothesis formulation”, hypothesis testing, and on the basis of the test, and finally accepting or rejecting your hypothesis. A very simple example: while observing car accidents, you may start with a hypothesis that most accidents are caused by teenage drivers.
