What is fondant and how does it taste?
Fondant also known as sugar dough is made from a marshmallow base. People commonly mistake this for marzipan which has an almond flavor. Because of the plain taste some clients prefer fondant to be flavored with oils such as raspberry, strawberry and orange.Fondant gives cake a porcelain finish and seals the cake keeping it fresh. It is also best suited for an outdoor wedding, holding up better to a warm day then buttercream. Fondant can be modified to different sculpting consistencies. This allows for creating flowers, animals, fabrics, pearls etc. Decorations on cakes are completely edible thanks to this medium.
