What is fly-tipping?
Most of us dispose of our waste using proper and safe routes, but there are others who choose to tip their waste in the countryside, or on other people’s land. This is fly-tipping. Fly-tipping is the illegal disposal of waste. It is no longer necessary to catch the culprit in the act of fly-tipping. A fine can be issued if it is clear who the fly-tipper is from the items they have left. Local authority officers, officers of the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the police have powers to issue fixed penalty notices. The special uplift service is provided to allow you to dispose of your bulky waste and excess household waste. All households are allocated five free special uplifts per financial year. Fly-tipping is a national eyesore that blights many communities and we are determined to stamp it out.
