A. Flat Rate MLS is an option that allows For Sale by Owner (FSBO) to take advantage of the Realtor® owned and operated Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Ultimately, you take advantage of a Realtors® strongest marketing tool (currently 75% of all homes sold in North America are listed on the MLS). Under these circumstances the FSBO home seller pays a flat rate ($199 – $499) to list the home on the MLS and agrees to pay a pre-agreed selling commission (usually ½ regular real estate commission (3%)) if their home is sold by a real estate agent. You still maintain the right to sell your FSBO home yourself without paying any additonal fees or commissions. It represents a good middle ground for FSBO home sellers.
