What is Fixed-Wireless?

0

Fixed Wireless is the process of connecting your desktop computer or network to the Internet through the use of microwave radios using the IEEE 802.11 standard. Netlink Technologies has two base stations and more coming up soon from where it broadcasts Internet signal to customers.

This method of Internet connectivity is accomplished using low power Microwave radios to transfer the data over the airwaves, instead of current wired technologies. This technology is fast becoming the defacto standard in providing service to areas currently not served by conventional methods.

Fixed wireless is a reliable method of connecting fixed locations, such as offices or buildings with a radio link, which can help solve the “last mile” problem, i.e., that it is relatively easy to send information across the country via high-speed fiber optic networks, but difficult to extend that speed from the network hub to the user. Fixed wireless is different than mobile wireless because of the higher capacity and longer distances provided by fixed wireless technology.
