What is figgy pudding?
Most of us have heard of figgy pudding from singing about it at Christmas. However most of us have no idea what it is. Figgy pudding is actually more of a cake then a true pudding. It has been compared by some as being a relative of the fruit cake but with figs and raisins as the only fruit. It is most often baked in a metal bowl then inverted after cooling so that it is mound shaped when served. The juice from the boiled figs is reserved and served warm over each slice right before eating. The warm juices gives the moist pudding like consistency.
