What is Festival Hall?
Festival Hall is an arts and music centre that will: • fill a severe shortage of affordable small performance spaces in Calgary as determined by numerous studies over the past 20 years; • provide a modestly-priced performance space that incubates creative talent by nurturing emerging artists; • cement the Calgary Folk Music Festival Society’s position as the champion of non-commercial, independent, culturally and artistically diverse roots, traditional and world music; • be a destination for audiences and artists, with superior acoustics and a wonderful atmosphere that will attract audiences and performers on a repeat basis; • present concerts, workshops, discussions, lectures, song contests and master classes; • welcome artists and organizations from all disciplines, including film, theatre, dance, music, visual and media arts groups • secure our future with a permanent home for staff and 1600 volunteers.
