Well, yes, but there have been several Presidents who are known only for not being famous for anything of any real importance. FDR guided the US through (and out of) a recession that was much worse than we are seeing now. He also led the USA for all but the last few months of World War 2. The performance of the American military and industry astonished the world, and FDR was probably the greatest inspiration for it.
