What is Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare?
Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare is an innovative concept representing a departure from traditional storm-the-beach tactics in favor of rapid sea-based and logistically fluid operations supported by improved airlift and sealift assets. The goal of the Marine Corps’ Operational Maneuver from the Sea concept is to rapidly maneuver landing forces directly from their ships to objective areas, uninterrupted by topography or hydrography. It calls for the Marine Expeditionary Unit or Brigade to push swiftly inland as soon as it reaches the shore.
