What is expected of me at an editor or agent interview?
This is your 10-minute opportunity to sell your work (and yourself). If you’re unsure how to do this, try to take one of the Pitching workshops before your appointment. Most editors and agents don’t want to see your material unless they ask for it. It doesn’t hurt to have it (say, your first 30 pages double-spaced) handy somewhere, just in case they do. The focus though, in this very fast 10 minutes, is to verbally pitch your story/piece. Know what questions you want to ask before you get there. Be specific about your pitching and your questions. This is your chance to hear what you need to hear. Listen carefully. Don’t forget to be enthusiastic and leave the butterflies at the door ~ we have a jar for them.
