What is Executive Privilege?
Executive privilege is a power tool that can be evoked by the President and other executive branches to deny access to certain records. Basically when someone in a position that can use an executive privilege, it’s to buy time to not have to turn them over in the interest of the American people. Records being sought after and refused are quite often highly classified records and should not be made available to the public for safety and security reasons.
