What is Excelsior College?
Excelsior College is a private, nonprofit educational institution founded in 1971 and located in Albany, NY. It was originally known as Regents College. A fundamental aspect of Excelsior’s mission is to recognize the numerous and varied educational experiences of adult learners. A recognized world leader in online education, Excelsior College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Excelsior College Examinations are recognized by the American Council of Education (ACE). Excelsior College was ranked number one by the US News and World Report for enrolling the greatest number of transfer students in Fall 2006 (10,929) and for enrolling the highest percentage of students 25 and older (97%); the college also awards more BSN degrees than any other institution in the nation. Since its inception, Excelsior has also been at the forefront of serving members of the Armed Forces.
