What is evolution? Why is evolution referred to as a theory?
1. Evolution is defined as “the change in the allele frequency in a population”. Or in simpler terms, the change in the heritable traits in a population (such as a species) over time. Or in even simpler terms … *evolution is change* (but change in a *species* over time, not an individual. However, there is also something called the “theory of evolution” (or TOE). This is the theory that explains two things: (1) how that process of *change* described in the previous paragraph occurs in nature; and (2) how that same process explains the origins of all species on the planet. 2.
