What is Evapotranspiration?
A. Evapotranspiration is the combined water needs of a plant. Soil loses water to evaporation and plants lose water by transpiration for growth and survival. Since plants get water from the soil, both water losses must be replaced. Therefore, plant science and irrigation technology combine the two plant losses into one value called ?Evapotranspiration?. This value can be measured by using a weather station and has become the basis for irrigation management. Jardinier?s SurfaceFlow? technology for turf irrigation significantly reduces water loss common to pop up spray head irrigation, through water being blown away by the wind or evaporating before it hits the ground.
