What is Ethical Advertising?
Exploring Sexism, Body Imagery, Religion and Violence in Modern Advertising Media* Art, Philosophy Modern advertising media often presents body imagery that reinforces social prejudices against women. This course is designed to examine the social and religious origins of sexism and how these are reflected and perpetuated by media advertising. The impact of media advertising in sanctioning the social effects of prejudice such as domestic violence, sexual assault, violence, and eating disorders will also be examined. Assignments in this course will build toward producing examples of ethical advertising and awareness raising materials on these issues. *This is a service learning course.
