What is Equipment Status Management?
A typical industrial site hosts hundreds of employees and contractors and countless amounts of equipment – a constantly changing environment. Each unique item of equipment undergoes several changes in terms of its safety, operability (maintenance), location and ownership. Some of these changes are planned but many are unpredictable. And for most items of equipment, there is a set of stakeholders including operatives, maintenance personnel, inspectors and safety and maintenance managers to whom this type of information is critical. The key point about these stakeholders is that they are PEOPLE. Unarmed with accurate, up to date and timely information, people are prone to make assumptions. Assumptions can lead to potentially damaging decisions for individuals and business performance .
