What is endodontic (root canal) treatment?
Root canal treatment is the procedure where diseased tissue and debris (1) are removed from the inside of the tooth. An opening is made (2) through the biting surface of the tooth (occlusal surface) to access the tissue inside. The tissue is then removed (3) and the canals are cleansed with the use of files and antibacterial rinses. The resulting space (4) is then filled with a sterile material and a temporary filling is placed in the opening (5). Then, a final restoration will be placed by your dentist (6).
