First Northern OnLine Services takes advantage of the powerful encryption technology available in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. This advanced technology prevents monitoring of your online Services account, as well as unauthorized access to your account information. To verify the encryption technology in your Microsoft Internet Explorer, look for a gold lock in the lower-right hand corner of the screen for PC users, or lower-left hand corner of the screen for MAC users. If the lock is closed, it indicates that your online Services transactions are secure. If the lock is open, it indicates that your transactions are not. For Netscape Navigator users, look for the lock in the lower left-hand portion of your screen. If the lock is closed and glowing, it indicates that your online Services transactions are secure. If the lock is open, it indicates that your transactions are not.
