What Is Elastomeric Coating?
Elastomeric coatings are high-solids, flexible, liquid-applied rubber like membranes that have the ability to expand by 200 percent or above and then contract along with the substrates. These coatings are generally applied in thick films (normally 10 mils and above) that are 5-10 times thicker than conventional coatings. Applications Elastomeric coatings are used for new construction, maintenance, or restoration purposes in three primary applications including wall, floor, and roof. A description of each of these applications is provided below. • Wall: Elastomeric coatings are used in exterior masonry, concrete, and stucco walls to protect the substrate against wind-driven rain, and at the same time provide highly decorative finishes. • Floor or Horizontal Surface: Elastomeric coatings are used in parking decks, driveways, plaza decks, walkways, and other concrete floors to provide waterproofing, slip resistance, and high traffic bearing ability. • Roof: Elastomeric coatings are used i
