What is El Monte?
El Monte is a new restaurant in Fort Collins. It is designed to be a place to relax, be among friends and feel like you are in an oasis. In folklore, the name El Monte means a fertile ground when trees and crops grew next to the river – it was the oasis in the American West landscape. We have worked hard to open El Monte in April because we know things are a little rough out there right now. We all need a safe place – like the front porch in a game of tag, your friend’s voice on the phone when you need to talk, the comfortable restaurant you look forward to all day. Fresh salsas, homemade corn tortillas and a mesquite wood grill are the heart of the menu. The people who lived in the “El Monte” area were vegetarians and in their honor we will endeavor to create great vegetarian dishes with the same energy that we put into the impeccable steaks and seafood coming off the grill.
