I am a Muslim and I celebrate Eid and all the festivities that go around with it. Let me tell you what the differences are between Eid and Christmas. Muslims all around the world celebrate two Eids in the Islamic year. The first Eid is after the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic year where every Muslim fasts for the entire month. The Islamic calendar is based on the sighting of the moon. On the last day of the month of Ramadan, Muslims look for the new moon in the sky so they can see if the new month will start the next day. After the last day of Ramadan, the 1st day of the 10th month in the Islamic calendar, named Shawwal, is the celebration of Eid.
