What is Ecologys role in the cleanup process?
Ecology’s role varies depending on the situation and the choices made by the parties involved. For example: • We may provide limited technical assistance; • We review cleanup reports submitted via the fee-based Voluntary Cleanup Program; • We may conduct Emergency Actions or Interim Cleanup Actions; • In many cases, we provide extensive oversight of formal cleanups under the Model Toxics Control Act (usually under a legal agreement such as an Agreed order or a Consent Decree). Our preference is to work cooperatively with people to achieve cleanup solutions.
