What is ecclesiastical endorsement?
Almost all chaplain oversight bodies require denominational approval before a chaplain can serve in that particular organization. This approval is called ecclesiastical endorsement. It protects the organization from hiring individuals who may possess less than adequate skills for the position. It also protects the denomination since chaplains represent the denomination in highly visible positions.
