What is Eave Protection all about?
Eave Protection: The components that make up the foundation of a roof system, along the eave edges, at the soffit or overhang. Item #1: Metal Drip Edge does three things * deflects water into the gutter system, rather than letting water run out between the gutter and fascia * supports the first row of asphalt shingles * eliminates rodents from chewing access holes to the attic space Item #2: Eave Underlayment is required by the Building Code which states that this protection extend to a point, not less than 11″ on the interior side of any exterior wall. This item acts as protection when climatic and thermal conditions contribute to ice damming.
