In 1983, Eastman was the first company to commercialize a coal gasification facility in the U.S. and has averaged a remarkably consistent 98 percent on-stream rate since 1984. The company’s engineers have had direct experience with start-up, trouble shooting and operations at more than 20 gasification facilities around the world, including a number of pet coke and coal-fed gasifiers.
