What is Eagles Nest Clubhouse?
Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse is a community based self-help rehabilitation program designed to meet the needs of individuals who have a history of mental illness. The program operates as a club where members are voluntary participants and contributors. They carry out the work of the house, vote on decisions effecting the club and provide mutual support to each other. What are the fundamental beliefs of the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse? • Every person has a positive contribution to make regardless of a disability. • All persons require the opportunity for social contact, support, and a place to be needed and wanted. • Individuals often grow more when reaching beyond themselves to support others. • Work, especially gainful work, is a positive, growth-producing force for all people. Why is there an Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse? Since there early 1960’s, the focus of mental health resources has shifted from institutions to local communities. In May of 1983, Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse opened its doors to provide
