What is E Ink?
E Ink is a spectacular product still under way that will revolutionize the paper industry. It is the newest way of creating digital documents, and does so in a way uniquely its own. Using E Ink technology, you can do away with paper, but keep the information it contained. It can generate pages of print quality very quickly, without the use of ink, and regenerate any number of different pages on the same sheet. How does E Ink work? When you break it down, E Inks smallest component is a little clear plastic ball that contains blue dye and white chips. The white chips have a positive charge as they are floating in the blue dye. Now over and under this you have electrodes, which can either generate a positive charge or a negative charge. The way the chips operate is based on a very simple principle, opposites attract. If the top electrode is positively charged, and the bottom one negatively charged, it will force all the white chips to the bottom, making it appear blue from the top. Now if
Electronic ink, or e ink, is a special type of electronic display. Somewhat similar to regular ink, e ink is unique in three primary ways: it is made up of many tiny capsules, these capsules are filled with ink, and the ink contains white particles that have a negative charge. These three properties allow an electronic ink display to be changed on demand. E ink can be used on many of the same surfaces as regular ink. For example, e ink might be applied to a piece of thin plastic containing many small cells. The cells are connected to microelectronics in the sheet, and the ink covers the entire surface of the sheet. The microelectronics create a positive or negative charge in each of the capsules. A negative charge beneath a capsule causes the particles in the ink to go to the top of the capsule, covering its top surface and making it appear white. A positive charge attracts the particles to the bottom of the capsule, allowing the dark ink to show and making the capsule take on the colo
