What is DWDM technology?
DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) is a technology that is designed to maximise the traffic that can be carried on optical fibre. It enables multiple signals to be combined (multiplexed) and sent at the same time along one single fibre, with each transmission using a different wavelength of light. As each signal is de-multiplexed at the end of the transmission back into the original source, different data formats being transmitted at different data rates (e.g. IP, SDH, ATM, etc.) can be transmitted together. EASSy can support 59 different 40Gbps wavelengths on a single fibre.
