What is Duke’s relationship with fraternities and sororities on campus?
In 2002, Duke University created the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life to help advise and monitor the Greek community. We seek to create a positive Greek community through a multi-pronged approach, bringing together our students, alumni, the national headquarters, and the University. Collaborating with each of these groups, we provide our students with advisement, educational programming, leadership training and strong advocacy. Although we seek to be a resource to all of our students, the office primarily works with council executives and chapter leaders. Duke University’s Greek community is comprised of four governing councils, the Interfraternity Council, the Inter-Greek Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Association. Each council works with their respective chapters to provide rules and regulations that govern the entire community.
