What is DSP Speech Technology and why is it important?
It’s hard to appreciate what Digital Signal Processor (DSP) speech technology offers unless you compare it to a system that does not have it. So, to answer this question, we’ll look at the prevailing Doorphone technology on the market and then compare it to the Algo system that features DSP. Conventional hands-free Doorphone systems use analog half-duplex technology to transmit and receive voice data. Half-duplex devices let you send and receive, but only one-way at a time. If you’ve ever used a walkie-talkie, then you know what half-duplex conversations sound like. You have to push the TALK button to send your message. But as long as you are holding the TALK key, you can’t hear what anyone else is saying. You must release the button to receive. That’s also the big problem with conventional Doorphones – they are only a step up from the walkie-talkie.
