What Is DPI?
DPI literally means dots per inch, and PPI means pixels per inch (they are synonymous). These dots or pixels correspond with the way images are displayed on monitors, TVs, and anything printed (which includes digital photo prints). In the context of scanning photos, slides, or negatives, the DPI dictates the level of quality of the scan. The greater the DPI, the larger you can expand the image without pixelation and distortion.
