What is door-to-door service?

Door-to-door service is the way Transport Services operates. Door-to-door means that a truck will come to your house (or another pre-designated location) and pick up your vehicle…right in front of you! Both you and the driver will inspect the vehicle, marking any dings or dents that it may have, plus the mileage and anything else that may be relevant to shipping it. This inspection is to make sure that both you and the driver know what the car looks like when it is loaded onto the truck and for reference if any new damages occur. Door-to-door service is different than terminal-to-terminal service. With terminal-to-terminal service, you drop your car off at a pre-designated terminal that the auto shipping company owns or rents and you wait for them to pick it up. However, terminal-to-terminal service is not recommended unless you absolutely need it because you never know when your car will be picked up. It can takes weeks for a trucking company to get around to actually picking up you

Door-to-Door means the driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely get. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. This is why we must know up-front if your vehicle is Inoperable! Most transport trucks are enormous and need lots of room to maneuver and turn around, so if access to your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask that you meet the truck at a large parking lot nearby such as a grocery store. If your vehicle is Inoperable we must send a truck that we know can access any of the situations listed above. If you do not inform us of a vehicle that is considered In-Operable, the additional fee’s can range from $100 to $500 depending on the type of truck that is sent to pick up your vehicle.

Door to Door Service means that the carrier will attempt to get as close as possible to your address (based on information given by you) legally and safely when picking up and delivering your vehicle. However, many cities and developments have restrictions prohibiting entry into certain communities. If access is hindered by narrow streets, sharp turns, low tree lines etc., the transporter may ask to meet you in a large nearby parking lot.
