The gasolines removed from the oil are light ends. This product is highly odorous and must be carefully controlled to avoid odor emissions from the refinery. The gasoline has a high concentration of chlorides which must be burned to avoid stack discharge of volatile organic compounds. This gasoline is usually burned as a fuel source in the refinery in a thermo oxidizer.
