What is done to actually remove mold and mold spores?
After determining that you have a mold problem, mold sampling tests are done to take initial mold spore counts in the air and on various surfaces. Next, containment is set up to not allow mold spores to aeresolize into unaffected areas. Then, the contaminated non-porous materials are removed (drywall, carpet, etc). Wood studs within the wall that have mold growth are either sanded and encapsulated or blasted with high pressured soda. Very detailed cleaning then takes place with HEPA vacuums to vacuum up remaining spores. A final clearance sampling is done to assure that mold counts are at a safe level.
