What is Domain Name Aliasing?
Domain aliasing is the process of registering and pointing a domain name to an already existing hosting account. This gives you, the customer, the ability to register multiple domain names that all point to one, universal web site. Each of these newly registered domain names are referred to as aliases while the original domain name is referred to as the parent. For example, NukeZone Hosting’s parent domain name is nukezone.com. If NukeZone Hosting decided to register the domain name nuke-zone.com (note the hyphen) and alias it to nukezone.com, whenever someone typed in the hyphened ‘nuke-zone.com’ into their browser, they would see the nukezone.com web site; while the hyphened domain name stays in the browser’s URL bar until the user navigated to another part of the site. Example: ABC.com is the existing, parent domain and a customer registers and aliases CBA.com to that account in order to capture the differences/misspelling of their company name.
