What is dog poo?
While the immediate answer is obvious, dog poo on streets, parks and beaches is smelly, unsightly and very unpleasant to step in! Like grafitti and other cues which indicate whether an area is cared for or not, the presence and prevalence of dog poo sends a strong message to the community about the behavioural expectations in that area. One dog poo invites another! Dog poo contains harmful bacteria and nutrients, and some end upwashing into natural waterways and stormwater systems. Dog poo can also contain other features which can be harmful to humans, such as the roundworm Toxocara Canis.
