Under The National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza, which was published in November 2005, DoD is responsible, specifically, for developing its own plan to implement this Strategy and, generally, for supporting civil authorities, when authorized by the President or the Secretary of Defense, in the implementation of this Strategy. In addition to the National Strategy, the Federal Government recently released an Implementation Plan for the National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza.
