What is Disk Defragmenter and how do I use it?
Files and applications on your Duracom PC’s hard drive are not always stored together as one unit, but are often divided into smaller units and placed throughout the hard disk. This is a part of normal operation. This can also cause the drive to become overly ‘fragmented’. On a fragmented hard disk, a computer has to work harder to gather all of the small units to perform the commands you give it; this slows down its ability to access files and run programs. Running Disk Defragmenter helps by putting all like files and programs into contiguous groups so the computer can access them quickly. Note: Disable your Screen Saver before attempting this or Disk Defragmenter will not be able to complete because your computer will continually try to use the drive, which causes Disk Defragmenter to start over.
