What is Digital TV?
Digital television (DTV) is an advanced form of technology that transmits broadcasts to your television. It sends information in the same binary code that computers use, which improves the picture and sound. Your TV receives these digitized signals over the airwaves. Digital television also can provide additional programming options since DTV is more efficient than analog television. This allows broadcasters to produce additional channels of the same program using digital technology. Occasionally DTV is referred to as digital terrestrial television, or DTT or DTTV, to distinguish digital TV broadcasting from other forms of digitized television, such as digital cable or direct broadcast satellite.
Digital TV, also called DTV, is the method of broadcasting TV signals using digital technology. Until recently, all TV signals were broadcast using analog technology that has existed for over 50 years. Digital TV is just a new and better way to get the same TV programming to your home. Additionally, DTV provides new capabilities for TV programming, such as High Definition TV (HDTV), a program guide, datacasting, and multicasting.
