What is digital dictation/digital transcription?
Digital dictation is recorded as an audio file using a hand-held digital recorder. The hand-held recorder is very similar to the traditional micro-cassette recorder. The audio is recorded directly into the machine’s memory as an audio file. To send the recorded audio file to us, you connect the recorder to your PC, upload the audio file and email it to us. Once your work has been transcribed we return it to you via email (usually as a Word document). We format it to your specifications, ie using your font type and size, letterhead etc. Using digital dictation there is no need to deliver/courier the tapes to us. You can instantaneously email your voice files to us. You can record a document requiring typing and we receive it in our office for transcription within a matter of seconds. How long does it take to transcribe? Transcription usually takes 2½ to 6 hours per audio hour to transcribe. The variation in time allows for background noises, more than one voice being recorded, terminolo
