What is diffusion and spatialization?
Diffusion means, literally, to spread or disseminate. In electroacoustic music, diffusion may refer to the broadcast medium used to present a composed work, but, more usually, it will imply an electroacoustic performance technique where studio material is interpreted by a solo performer to a live concert audience using multiple loudspeakers. In describing its performance practice, Sound Travels prefers to use the term spatialization instead of diffusion, because it paints a clearer picture in the mind of the lay members of its home based English language audience.
