Although in French, 80 is written as it is written in English, it is called ‘Quatre vin’ (pronounced ‘Katruh Van’). Literally, this means ‘four twenties’! Why there is no special French word for 80 in the language, is just not known- it’s just the way French has evolved over the Centuries.
