What is difference between tanning in a cosmetic skin tanning unit or at sea shore and repigmentation of stretch marks with the MultiClear?
stretch marks repigmentation with the MultiClear is performed with a specific narrow band UVAI wavelength which chemically “stains” melanin precursors located in the basal epidermal layer and eventually leads to darker melanin distributed in melanosomes in the epidermis. The result is a sustained pigmentation which lasts up to 6 months. The UVB light component stimulates the melanocytes to produce melanin. In contrast, cosmetic tanning utilizes broad UVA light which doesn’t affect the basal layer but rather the upper epidermal layer only. Tanning occurs within one day and persists a few days only. As a result it is useless in the treatment of stretch marks.
